As the summer really starts here in Seattle, thanks to a soggy spring, I am beginning my quest for a ready to wear collection to be shown at Fashion First Seattle, where I am also the creative director of the show. I have, as usual, many ideas and I am trying to sort through them. I got to thinking why not share….so many reality shows give us engineered challenges, nonsense fashion, and high on the drama….why not share what really goes on as the fashion gets created….for real. Thus, I am presenting the real fashion deal.
A collection usually begins for me with a reference or theme. I usually begin by looking through lots of pictures of different references, and sometimes I subscribe to a trending service. A trending service something that many of the large design houses use – sometimes you may wonder why
“safari” is the theme of the season…well because we all work with these services in some way or another and look at what they are suggesting and create our Point of View based on the overall trend.
I think the biggest challenge is getting your items closer to the season, I don’t believe my customer wants to see something they cannot get for 6
months, but they do want to be surprised at something closer to current season…so it can’t be too safe. This year I am using a London based trending service that focuses on both trending 2-3 seasons ahead and juxtaposes it with what is going on right now….a perfect mix.
So….where does this leave me….well with three main images that inspire.
1. Shapes: I am loving the sleeve and collar on this jacket, so structured, but how to do for everyday wear.
2. Color: Boysenberry is in….I love it, feels very fresh to me, especially with charcoal.
3. Materials: I am feeling a bit of velvet…shocking for me, as I am usually not a fan but feel I may be able to use in interesting ways.
My overall theme wants to be architectural rocker hard, with soft accents…such as pleating and detail work. hmmm. Letting it marinade.

So we have moved into our new location in Suite 22 on the front side of the village, and to celebrate we are going to be rolling out some lovely dresses for easter — easy wearing and easy fitting — the type of thing you just throw on.
We are also having our first trunk show from JAMBU shoes on SATURDAY, APRIL 3 from 12 – 4 — Preview fall and spring lines here and you can pick anything you like — try on a pair and you are entered to win a free one. Not to mention 10% off all shoe purchases.
We will also have our annual easter egg give away in the village for the kiddos from 10-12 on Saturday, April 3 as well.

Wow – what a crazy few weeks in the store. Lots going on including a move to suite 22 to the front of the village (between Daisy and Buddha Belly) on March 15th – we are super excited to be expanding and movin on up as they say.
We also completed our LA fashion week lineup (click here for show info)and worked on an Oscar dress for a director’s wife, from the movie The Cove, which we really hope works for her! And Lizzie is LA bound to check out the Oprah show as an audience attendee and then up to Vancouver to be a celebrity judge on the show Anna and Christine’s Beauty Call. WHEW!

And we got some new Property of Bags –great price point and very urban chic.
We are super excited to be presenting at LA fashion week during the green set, and will be heading to LA on March 20th. Big news us — CLICK HERE to see some initial coverage of the event. We also brought in some cool new bags from a seattle based company, Alchemy Goods — turning useless into useful.

The Haversack is flat out perfect for anyone who carries a lot of stuff but doesn’t want to heft around a backpack or one of those bigger bulky bags. This diminutive (that means small) carrier loves to be used. Take it to school, to work or fill it with gear and hit the pavement. You’ll love how it feels sitting on your hip -- reminds us of old school prada!
We are making room for new merchandise and marking down all handbags, hats and scarves — stop by if there was something you really missed out on for holiday!

Lastly, a great new jewelry line – potluck paris. Imported from paris by a local family business in Seattle – we have already been selling a few pieces right out of the unpacking – so don’t miss out.
We have been working hard on a new concept for our store…and other stores to buy for wholesale we are calling eizzil by lizzie parker. It is a one size for all fashion forward, top driven line that allows a fit for everyone from a 0-16 — or you can gain or lose some weight and it is still fine. The capsule collection features a draw string that enables the ease of fit with an unforgettable look.
As a matter o fact www.nimli.com has picked up the line and starting in Feb., it can be purchased online too! If you can’t wait we have started production and will be rolling out pieces in the store over the next few weeks, starting this weekend! The items range from $78-$98 and are sure to be staples in your wardrobe – we love them.
So after much begging from my daughter Finley, we have a little girls line in store….little lizzie; sized 6-14 for your budding fashionista. It is eco clothing in all sorts of colors ranging from $28-$38. Each item can be individually embellished for an extra $10 to your little one’s tastes – we have all sorts of bejeweling choices.
